Things Aren’t Always What They Appear to Be

Stop judging by mere appearances.
                    —John 7:24

Tom Hamilton raises sheep in South Lanarkshire, Scotland. He patrols his farm in his truck, with Don, his border collie, sitting beside him.

One morning Tom hopped out of the truck to rescue a lost lamb—but failed to set the brake. With dog Don in the driver’s seat, the truck rolled down the hill and across three lanes of rush-hour traffic before safely stopping.

Wide-eyed motorists watched what appeared to be a dog out for a morning drive. Things aren’t always what they appear to be.

You saw him in a place he shouldn’t have been.

You saw him make a purchase he shouldn’t have made.

You heard her say something she shouldn’t have said.

Be cautious—and charitable—in judgment. You may not have all the facts. Things aren’t always what they appear to be.

There’s a story behind every action.
Don’t judge until you know every detail of that story.
