The Papago Freeway Tunnel, which opened in 1990, is a slice of Interstate Highway 10 that snakes under downtown Phoenix. Motorists in trouble could contact the Papago controller through emergency phones throughout the tunnel.
It was a remarkable piece of engineering. But God’s surveillance system would fry the brain of the brightest engineer. He has his eye on every person on earth: “From heaven the Lord looks down and sees all mankind; from his dwelling place he watches all who live on earth” (Ps 33:13–14).
With God’s setup, you don’t have to plod to a call station. His system is voice-activated. All you need to do is speak, from wherever you are. “When you call to me, I will answer you. I will be with you when you are in trouble” (Ps 91:15 GWT).
