Trust in the Lord

You did not trust him or obey him.
                —Deuteronomy 9:23

Shammua, Shaphat, Igal, Palti, Gaddiel, Gaddi, Ammiel, Sethur, Nahbi, Geuel. Do you recognize those names? Probably not.

How about these two? Joshua and Caleb. Yep, you know them.

Add the first ten to the last two and you have the twelve spies who were sent to check out Canaan. The only two that are remembered are the two who trusted God to do what he had promised.

Don’t be too hard on the ten. They were just doing their job. They were sent to survey the land, and report back. Based on their observation, and their inferior resources, they were way overmatched. But they had forgotten one thing: God had promised to give them Canaan.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart” (Proverbs 3:5). Keep that sentence at the top of your mind and on the tip of your tongue.

With God in your corner, a fight you can’t win
becomes a fight you can’t lose.
