Don’t Hold Your Applause

A word aptly spoken is like
apples of gold in settings of silver.
                —Proverbs 25:11

One of the deepest human needs is the need to be appreciated. When you tip your hat to the work and worth of others you contribute significantly to their happiness.

Don’t wait for headline-worthy performance; keep an eye out for small, usually unnoticed things that are worthy of praise.

The tendency is to see perfection in those at a distance, and flaws in those close by. Today consciously look for things that you can applaud in those at your elbow.

And by all means voice your praise; unspoken appreciation does nothing to lift the spirit.

We benefit more from being valued
than from being evaluated.
