Those of us who have been blessed with a godly mother have in wayward moments wandered off in a prodigal swagger, only to limp back from the far country because of the pull of her influence.
Her love was unconditional and unending. When we ignored her counsel, she continued to love us. When we made foolish choices, she continued to love us. When we stumbled and fell, she continued to love us. When we were unlovable, she continued to love us.
She taught us about the One who gives direction, purpose, and joy to life. She taught us to get up and keep going after embarrassing failure—and to keep our eyes on God after heady success.
We bow in grateful remembrance.
A godly mother is a heavenly gift.
