Not the End, the Beginning

Christ Jesus … has destroyed death
and has brought life and immortality to light.
                                —2 Timothy 1:10

Jesus doesn’t guarantee a trouble free life.

But he does promise that however rough the road, you have “life in all its fullness” (Jn. 10:10 NCV).

He makes all the difference in how you live—and how you die.

You’re spending down your days; running out of pages on your calendar. You are closer to the day of your death than you’ve ever been. But because of Jesus, you are not among those “who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death” (Heb. 2:15).

As Dietrich Bonhoeffer was led to the gallows he said, “For me, this is the beginning of life.”

Death is not the end. It’s the beginning—the birth of a new, perfect, unending life.

It is a blessing to die without pain;
a greater blessing to die without doubt.
