Returning home after a lifetime on the seas, the old salt was taunted …

“You don’t have much to show for all those years, do you?”

“No, not much,” said the worn out sea dog who had spent most of his years sailing with Sir Francis Drake.  “I’ve been cold, hungry, desperately frightened, and several times shipwrecked. But I am sure of one thing, I have been with the greatest captain who ever sailed the seas.”

And you? What do you have to show for all your years of serving Christ?

You have faced difficulties and disappointments, that’s for sure. You’ve been hurt and heartbroken; often asked “why-me?” and “what-if?” Sometimes been slow to learn and feeble in faith. Sinned both unknowingly and knowingly. Seldom gotten it right the first time, and often messed up on the do-overs.
