Regret and Redemption

He does not treat us as our sins deserve.
                         —Psalm 103:10

Do you have any regrets?

Sure you do. We all get the shivers thinking about the foolish things we’ve done.

We wish we could retract thoughtless words we’ve spouted and get do-overs on bad choices we’ve made.

“Twenty seconds of stupidity can ruin your life,” some wag chirped.

That’s not far off.

But it’s not quite right either.

Because God mops up our messes.

“The Lord is compassionate and gracious … abounding in love … he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities” (Ps. 103:8, 10).

Hebrews 8:12 adds this promise: “I will remember their sins no more.”

That should make you sleep better tonight.

God’s forgiveness is bigger than your failure.
