Don’t Leave People Alone

Aaron and Hur held his hands up.
                —Exodus 17:12

When the Israelites were fighting the Amalekites at Rephidim, Moses went to the top of a hill. But he didn’t go alone. He took Aaron and Hur with him.

Hur?

We know a lot about Moses and Aaron, but almost nothing about Hur.

“As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning” (Ex 17:11).

When Moses was too tired to stand, Aaron and Hur gave him a place to sit. When he was too tired to hold up his hands, Aaron and Hur stood on either side of him and held up his tired hands.

Don’t be shy about asking the help of others or slow in giving it.

You know someone whose hands hang heavy. Be a Hur to her.

Everyone needs someone.
Be that someone.
