An Unforgettable Communion

A little child shall lead them.
             —Isaiah 11:6

Today I’m treating you to an excerpt from a touching article, written by my friend John Gipson. It will make your time at the Table this Sunday more meaningful.

“Songs had been sung, prayers uttered, and it was time for Communion. . . . The bread had been passed . . . and now the cup. . . .

“Suddenly the silence was broken by a small child singing, “Jesus loves me, this I know.”

“The line was not finished. Did the mother place her hand over the child’s mouth to keep her quiet? I longed for the child to continue because her words were so appropriate for my meditation. . . . Her small voice focused my mind on Christ as nothing else could have. It was an unforgettable Communion service.”
—John Gipson

“Do this in remembrance of me.”
Lest we forget.
