Your Finest Hour

Be strong in the Lord
and in his mighty power.
    —Ephesians6:10

On June 18, 1940, Prime Minister Winston Churchill addressed the House of Commons, saying, “I expect that the Battle of Britain is about to begin. . . . The whole fury and might of the enemy must very soon be turned on us. . . .

“Let us therefore brace ourselves to our duties, and so bear ourselves that, if the British Empire and its Commonwealth last for a thousand years, men will still say, “This was their finest hour.”

What would you say was Simon Peter’s finest hour?

Was it when he said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”? (Mt 16:16).
Was it his Pentecost sermon? (Acts 2).
Was it when he told the Sanhedrists, “We must obey God rather than men!”? (Acts 5:29).

What has been your finest hour? What will be?

You have your flaws and failures—
also your brave and courageous hours.
