Convalescent plasma therapy dates back more than a century, when similar treatment was effectively administered during the Spanish Flu pandemic of 1918—and more recently in the Ebola and SARS epidemics.
The procedure transfuses antibody-rich plasma from someone who has recovered from the novel coronavirus into a critically ill COVID-19 patient. Initial results show promise, but doctors and scientists aren’t ready to say how effective it will be.
Here is something we know for sure: the blood of Jesus applied to sinners is lifesaving. He “has freed us from our sins by his blood” (Rv 1:5). “His blood purifies us from all our sins” (1 Jn 1:7).
