Hit the Brakes

Acts of the sinful nature are obvious.
                   —Galatians 5:19

The light rail line in Houston, Texas, has been a fiasco of cars crashing into trains. Despite dozens of posted “Do Not Turn” signs, illegal turns have been the cause of most of the smashups.

Transit engineers have worked to eliminate the problem by programming traffic signals to turn lights red in all directions when trains approach an intersection—but it hasn’t worked.

It doesn’t take a brain surgeon to get to the bottom of the problem—drivers are ignoring the signs and signals.

Your Bible posts some warning signs and signals too.

There’s a cluster of them in Galatians 5: alerts about lust, hatred, jealousy, anger, criticism, envy, and selfish ambition.

When you detect one of these red lights flashing, it’s time to hit the brakes.

The best way to survive a collision with sin
is to avoid the collision in the first place.
