Reject Replays

If we confess our sins, he is
faithful and just to forgive our sins.
                       —1 John 1:9

Instant replay eliminated missing a game-changer. Any dazzling “How-did-he-do-that?” feat will be replayed on your screen again and again—and again in slow motion.

The flip side is that a boneheaded mistake that lost a game will be replayed the same humiliating number of times.

Are you repeatedly replaying your slipups—things you said or did that you wish you hadn’t? If you could have the moment back, you’d handle it differently.

Not going to happen—you don’t get do-overs.

But you do get second chances.

And forgiveness.

Peter asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?” Jesus answered, “Not seven times, but seventy-seven” (Mt 18:21–22).

Would the Lord be less generous in forgiving you? When you request forgiveness, it’s a done deal.

Pull the plug on replays of your mistakes.
