Time-Out for a Grin

Blessed are you who weep now,
for you will laugh.
     —Luke 6:21

The COVID pandemic dished out many grim months. I want to call a time-out today for a grin.

If you’re not in a cheerful mood and don’t want to take this break with me, I understand. Just skip this post and join me back here tomorrow when I’ll get serious again.

But if you can tolerate a touch of humor, here are a couple of groaners to get you grinning.

An elderly woman who had never married left these instructions for her memorial service: “No male pallbearers!! They wouldn’t take me out while I was alive, so I don’t want them to take me out when I’m dead.”

In an evaluation interview, a police recruit was asked, “What would you do if you had to arrest your own mother?’ He answered, “Call for backup.”

If you see someone without a smile today,
give them one of yours.
