The only thing that counts is
faith expressing itself through love.
—Galatians 5:6
Galatians 5 opens with these words: “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”
Verse 4 says, “You who are trying to be justified by law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace.” Verse 6 concludes, “The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.”
Resist making laws and demanding that others toe the line and see everything exactly as you do.
If we have never found a flaw in our understanding, we haven’t grown. God has been patient with us. Let’s be patient with others. Never compromise the Word—but give people room to grow.
Jesus said, “go and make disciples”
—not “go and make converts to your opinions.”
