At the End of Your Rope?

He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak
                —Isaiah 40:29

Are you at the end of your rope—slogging through a rough patch with no relief in sight, so exhausted that you’re about ready to throw in the towel?

If so, you have a pal in Paul. There was a point when he and his companions were beyond their ability to endure. But as it turned out, he said it was the best thing that could have happened because “we learned not to rely on ourselves, but on God . . . And he did deliver us” (2 Cor 1:9, 10).

If a seemingly unsolvable problem is hammering you, grab God’s hand. He is sympathetic to your suffering and will supply the strength you need: “he gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak” (Isa 40:29).

Without God, you can’t win.
With God, you won’t lose.
