Constant Contact

He wakens me morning by morning,
wakens my ear to listen.
        —Isaiah 50:4

“Call me anytime,” Carl said. “I have my cell phone on 24/7/365.”

Twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year strikes me as somewhat excessive for human availability.

But not for divine connection, where constant contact is needed and available.

Polished pianist Ignacy Paderewski said, “If I miss one day of practice, I notice it. If I miss two days, the critics notice it. If I miss three days, the audience notices it.”

Professional basketball player, Grant Hill, was known for his arduous practice regimen. He said, “When I take a day off, I feel like I’m losing my edge.”

You can’t take a day off from connection with God without losing a step.

The best exercise for spiritual fitness
