Nix the Replays

Forgetting what is behind.
      —Philippians 3:13

A nothing-but-net three-pointer. A fingertip touchdown catch. Don’t fret if you missed seeing the play. It’ll be back—again and again on instant replay.

You know what instant replay is like, don’t you? You blurted hurtful words in anger. You gave in to temptation. If you had it to do over again, you would handle the blunder differently. But instead of moving on, you replay the goof-up over and over.

You don’t get do-overs. But you do get second chances.

If there were no second chances, the apostle Peter wouldn’t be in your Bible. Nor the apostle Paul. All you have to do to add your name to that illustrious list is to do better next time. Don’t say, “If only I hadn’t”—say, “Next time I won’t.”

Nix the replays. They come out the same way every time.
