I tell you a mystery.
—1 Corinthians 15:51
Surprises! You’ve had your share of them. Some of them filled you with apprehension, others with joy. Some caused you to sob, others made you laugh.
Try to imagine the reactions to the following surprises.
- When Adam and Eve stood by Abel’s fresh grave.
- When Enoch’s footprints abruptly stopped, and he was seen no more.
- When Noah’s neighbors realized that rain was real.
- When the Israelites woke up to find manna covering the ground.
- When Jesus disappeared from the Emmaus disciple’s table.
The last and greatest surprise will be experienced by us all:
“We will all be changed—in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye . . . For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed” (1 Cor 15:51–52).
It’s coming. Be ready.
