In all things God works for
the good of those who love him.
—Romans 8:28
Many of us first learned this verse in King James language: “All things work together for good to them that love God.”
That’s quite a statement coming from a man who had been frequently and unjustly imprisoned, flogged, beaten, stoned, shipwrecked, hungry, thirsty, sleepless, and cold (see 2 Cor 11:23–28).
Paul’s trust was so unshakable that he believed God would use all these bad things to accomplish good things.
If we can reach that level of trust, it will empower us to defeat discouragement when life doesn’t work out the way we think it should and thought it would.
Trust God enough to sign your name
and leave it to him to fill in the details.
