Is It Worth What It Costs?

We have left everything to follow you.
                 —Matthew 19:21

How much does it cost?
What is it worth?

Ask a salesperson either of those questions, and the answer will be the same: they’ll give you the price of the item.

But there’s a big difference between the two. The cost of something is its price. The worth of something is its value. A salesperson can give you the price, but only you can evaluate its worth.

You have spent wisely when the worth eclipses the cost. Before paying the price, always weigh the worth.

When Jesus says, “Follow me,” you must decide if it’s worth what it costs. And in this case, it’s worth whatever it costs.

Weigh the worth; pay the price.
