Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness.
—John 8:12
Many in Isaiah’s day, as in our own, were walking in darkness. But the prophet saw an approaching light: “The people walking in darkness have seen a great light” (Is 9:2).
What was that light? “To us a child is born, to us a son is given . . . Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end” (Is 9:6, 7).
“The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world” (Jn 1:9). And he did. “I am the light of the world,” said Jesus. “Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life (Jn 8:12).
All the world’s darkness cannot extinguish the light that Jesus brings. And those who follow him will never walk in darkness.
Live in the light.
