There is now no condemnation
for those who are in Christ Jesus.
—Romans 8:1
We have sinned, but we won’t be convicted.
Justice demands that we pay the price for our transgressions. But in an act of grace that defies human understanding, the penalty for our sins has been paid by Jesus, who assumed our guilt and took our punishment.
Justice now demands pardon, not condemnation, because the sacrifice of Jesus has wiped out our guilt. The penalty has been paid, the sentence has been served, justice has been satisfied.
Our baptism put us in Christ (Rom 6:3), and there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ (Rom 8:1).
We couldn’t pay the price.
He could. And did.
