I am doing a new thing.
—Isaiah 43:19
God is good at springing surprises. We’re not so good at expecting them.
Jacob was camped at Bethel when God informed him in a dream that he was going to do a new thing—something big. The conniving bad boy woke up, rubbed his eyes, and said, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I was not aware of it” (Gen 28:16).
Moses was shepherding in the wilderness when God spoke to him from a burning bush, informing him that he was about to do a new thing—something big. And unsuspecting Moses was to be the key player.
Are you alert? Watching for God’s doings? Listening for his voice? He can do immeasurably more than you can ask—or even imagine (Eph 3:20). Imagine that!
Watch for God to do a new thing in your space.
