[God] is able to do immeasurably
more than all we ask or imagine.
—Ephesians 3:20
God shapes the manuscripts of our lives in various ways:
- Sometimes he makes minor revisions.
- Sometimes he skips minor revisions and goes for major makeovers.
- Sometimes he adds or deletes a chapter here and there.
- Sometimes he trashes the manuscript and starts fresh.
You’ve heard the maxim about how God answers prayer: sometimes he says “Yes,” sometimes he says “No,” sometimes he says “Wait.”
That’s wrong.
God never says “No” to your prayers. When it seems that he does, back off and watch for his “immeasurably more.”
When you get home, if God chooses to display his answers alongside your prayers, you may say, “So that’s how that played out! I didn’t think that prayer was heard, but he not only heard it, he did immeasurably more than I asked for or even imagined.”
You will always get it right if you’re
willing to let God edit your prayers.
