You of little faith,
why are you so afraid?
    —Matthew 8:26
Four times Jesus chastised his followers—apostles of all people—for their lack of trust, calling it “little faith.” Their faith was short-circuited when they were:
- Fearful (Mt 8:26).
 - Floundering (Mt 14:31).
 - Forgetful (Mt 16:8).
 - Faltering (Mt 17:20).

I cringe when I read these stories and note the words, “You of little faith,” for my faith has sometimes been feeble under less stressful circumstances.
I don’t want to face Jesus and have him ask, “Why didn’t you trust me, you of little faith?”
Those apostles whose faith Jesus labeled “little” said, “Lord, increase our faith!” (Lk 17: 5). Let’s add our Amen: “Lord, increase our faith.”
Trust him. Everything is going to be alright.
