No Contentment without Thankfulness

[Be] watchful and thankful.
            —Colossians 4:2

We will never be content until we’re thankful.

There is no contentment where gratitude is absent, and no absence of contentment where gratitude is present.

The process is simple: be “watchful and thankful.” In other words, be aware of your blessings, and be grateful.

It’s dated, but you’ll get the drift of Will Rogers’ statement:

“In the days of our founders, they were willing to give thanks for mighty little, for mighty little was all they expected. Those old boys in the fall of the year, if they could gather in a few pumpkins, potatoes and some corn for the winter, they was in a thanking mood. But if we can’t gather in a new Buick, a new radio, a tuxedo and some government relief, why, we feel like the world is against us.”

If we’re not thankful for what has been given,
we’re not likely to be thankful for what will be given.
