Encourage one another and build each other up.
—1 Thessalonians 5:11
Marathon. What a sport! Unlike football, baseball, or basketball, there are no catcalls, no boos. Only cheers.
That is the way life should be lived—cheering for one another, encouraging one another.
Life isn’t a sprint; it’s a marathon, a long, demanding race. People need encouragement to go the distance. Encouragement is no less a ministry than teaching, feeding, or giving.
There are people in your circle who are running on fumes. Their tank is almost empty. They need a boost.
Make these words your mission today: “Encourage the timid (fainthearted rsv), help the weak, be patient with everyone . . . be kind to each other” (1 Th 5:14).
Speak words that build up, not beat up.
