Take captive every thought.
—2 Corinthians 10:5
Thoughts. You can’t always predict their arrival. Sometimes they pay a sudden, unwelcome and unwholesome visit. You may not be able to avoid their knock at the door. But you can refuse to invite them in.
If you let them, they will take residency and take over. But be warned! They’re squatters. They’ll raid your refrigerator, juice your utilities, and trash your place. But they won’t pay the rent. Let them hang around, and you’ll be stuck with the bill.
It’s best to tell them right off, “You’re not welcome here, you have to leave.”
Here’s the thing: our thoughts define our lives: “Above all, be careful what you think because your thoughts control your life” (Prv 4:23 ERV). So, “take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ” (2 Cor 10:5).
You have two choices: control your thoughts
or let your thoughts control you.
