The Ritz theater in my boyhood hometown, featuring cowboy films with favorites like Gene Autry and Roy Rogers, was packed every Saturday afternoon. But the hook that kept us coming back was the serial short, ending on a cliff-hanger, fading out with “To be continued.”
We were rooting for the white hat good guys, but the black hat bad guys were winning when “To be continued” rolled.
From this day until the day you die, your story is “To be continued.” Like Paul, you may be facing seemingly insurmountable obstacles. “My only aim,” he said, “is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord has given me” (Acts 20:24).
Hang tough, and when you check out here, your life is still “To be continued” . . . forever.
Ultimately, white hats win.
