I have finished the work
which you gave me to do.
—John 17:4
Jesus signed off, saying, “I have finished the work which you gave me to do.”
“My only aim,” wrote Paul, “is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord has given me” (Acts 20:24).
Jesus and Paul did something that no one else could do. So do you. You have a calling that God has entrusted to no one else.
I’m in awe of some of the high achievers I’ve known. And equally of some who live at a less conspicuous level, but with the same intensity to finish the work God has given them to do.
One of my favorite quotes is Mark Twain’s, “The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.”
Find your calling and be relentless in finishing well.
