[God] made us alive together with Christ.
—Ephesians 2:5
You know that when Christ comes you will be resurrected. But did you know that you have already been resurrected once?
“God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ” (Eph 2:4–5). Believers “have already passed from death into life” (Jn 5:24).
“You were dead in trespasses and sins” (Eph 2:1). We weren’t sick; we were dead! We had a grave problem: dead and buried. What can a dead person do? Nothing! We could do nothing to make ourselves alive. Left to our own efforts, we remain dead.
But God removed the stone, opened the tomb, and made us alive in Christ. Chalk another one up to grace.
By grace from grave to glory.
