He is Lord of lords and King of kings.
—Revelation 17:14
Ahasuerus reigned over 127 provinces, stretching from India to Ethiopia, the utmost boundaries of the then-known world (Est 1:1).
You will remember him as the king who threw a 180-day sot-saturated party, resulting in his divorce from Queen Vashti.
Ahasuerus ranks among the most powerful potentates in history.
But he doesn’t hold a candle to King Jesus, to whom God said, “I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession” (Ps 2:8).
The moguls of this world, be they from the 5th century BC or the 21st century AD, will eventually bow before King Jesus.
Ahasuerus’ 180-day bash rivals any festive feast in history. But Jesus has left us a small feast of remembrance so that we may come to his table together and acknowledge him as our King (Lk 22:19).
Don’t miss the feast this Sunday.
