I am he who blots out your transgressions . . .
and remembers your sins no more.
—Isaiah 43:25
The director of an English mental hospital said, “I could dismiss half of my patients tomorrow if they could be assured of forgiveness.”
Most of us have some skeletons in our closets, rattling their chains to remind us of something we’ve thought, said, or done that torments us.
Therapy may be in order. But for many, faith in God’s promise of forgiveness is the most productive healing procedure.
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness” (1 Jn 1:9).
“In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace” (Eph 1:7).
“There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” (Rom 8:1).
Forgiveness works wonders.
