Grow in the grace and knowledge
of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
—2 Peter 3:18
Jonah didn’t want to do what God told him to do, so he skipped out. That didn’t work out well, and he found himself in a whale of a mess.
God gave him another chance, and Jonah fulfilled the assignment—but with a rotten attitude. Even so, it resulted in an entire city repenting and turning to God.
The takeaway is clear: God uses imperfect people.
You may have resisted what you know God wants you to do and be. Your attitude may have a bad smell. You may have done a world-class job of messing up your life.
No matter, that’s just the first draft. The next chapter turns the page on your past and pictures a bright and useful future. God sees your future, not your past.
If you wake up tomorrow morning,
God is giving you another chance to get it right.
