Two Important Days

On the first day of the week
we came together to break bread.
                     —Acts 20:7

Have you noticed that an increasing number of calendars, especially those of the week-at-a-glance genre, start the week with Monday rather than Sunday?

God gave preeminence to two days of the week—the first and the last.

The last was to be a day of rest for his covenant people of the Old Testament, and the first was to be a day of remembrance for his covenant people of the New Testament.

Today, many spend Saturday in exhausting work and play, and Sunday sleeping off Saturday’s exhausting work and play.

Don’t allow overindulgence to hijack your schedule. Spend some time on Saturday preparing for Sunday, and time on Sunday remembering Jesus.

Keep things of first importance first.
