God is Good. All the Time

The Lord is compassionate and gracious.
                          —Psalm 103:8

I woke up before the alarm went off, with this question on my mind: “God, why are you so good to me?”

I could think of reasons why he shouldn’t be. But measuring life by the scene in the rearview mirror is unworthy of God’s forgiving love.

“God, why are you so good to me?” I know the answer: it’s because that’s who you are and that’s what you do. You delight in showing mercy (Micah 7:18).

“The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. . . . he does not treat us as our sins deserve . . . as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us” (Ps 103:8–12).

“Praise the Lord, O my soul” (Ps 103:1).
