Forgetting what is behind
and straining toward what is ahead.
—Philippians 3:13
Two steps are essential to a better life.
- You must let go of the past.
There is nothing you can do to change it.
You may have been through some rough weather: divorce; failure; moral lapse; death of a parent, companion, or child; a bad experience at church.
It’s difficult to bury the past, but that is what you must do before you can celebrate the present and happily anticipate the future.
- You must take the first step into the future.
Perhaps you know what you need to do, but you’re afraid or reluctant to do it.
Do it anyway.
The first step is the hardest. God will provide a path if you will trust him enough to take the first step.
A better life is just a decision away.
You will never arrive if you never start.
