Finding fault with those with whom we live, work, and worship doesn’t require special insight or superior intelligence.
Jesus’ charge to yank the plank out of our own eye before presumptuously reaching to flick a speck of sawdust out of someone else’s eye was intended to turn us to self-inspection, and away from critical scrutiny of others.
Tossing judgmental bombs may say more about us than about our target; may come closer to measuring our size than theirs.
Putting people down doesn’t build us up; doesn’t prove their defects—but it may reveal ours.
God hasn’t appointed you Judge,
so take off the robe and give up the gavel.
