Sharpen Your Memory

Don’t you remember?
    —Matthew 16:9

“My life has been full of terrible misfortunes, most of which never happened,” wrote Montaigne.

Is your happiness being sabotaged by fretting over things that may never happen?

Jesus’ disciples were grumbling because their stomachs were growling. They had taken a hike without packing a lunch.

“Don’t you remember?” Jesus asked them. Just a few hours ago he had fed a crowd of thousands. Throwing together a snack for a dozen would be a snap.

A good memory eliminates a lot of hand-wringing. “Don’t you remember?” Take a backward glance at blessings received. Rather than making this a day of fear for what may happen, make it a day of praise for what has happened?

The fearful hear a noise in every bush.
