How can I repay the Lord
for all his goodness to me?
—Psalm 116:12
Warren Buffett, the world’s third richest person at this writing, is planning to give away the bulk of his $65 billion fortune before he dies. “If we’ve been blessed we should give back,” he says.
Dr. Major Bradshaw, dean of Baylor College of Medicine for thirty years, made a jaw-dropping career move. He went to Botswana to be the founding dean of the first medical school in that country. Botswana has one doctor for every 3,500 people, compared with one for every 400 in the U.S. Bradshaw said he has been blessed and felt an obligation to give back.
Kudos to Mr. Buffett and Dr. Bradshaw.
“Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits” (Ps. 103:2).
No one can help everyone,
but everyone can help someone.
