The Changing and the Changeless

Jesus Christ is the same
yesterday and today and forever.
              —Hebrews 13:8

You live in a place of constant change.

Marriage changes, for better or for worse.

Children change. In Fiddler on the Roof, Tevye sings: “Is this the little girl I carried, Is this the little boy at play?” Wife Golde joins in: “I don’t remember growing older, When did they?”

The body changes. Despite disciplined attempts to prolong your life to infinity, your body refuses to cooperate. The eat-anything-you-want, non-sagging physique, and body without pain becomes an existence in the rearview mirror.

Is anything changeless, anything that provides a rock-solid foundation for your life? Yes! Jesus “is the same yesterday and today and forever. Your God is the Alpha and the Omega, “who is, and who was, and who is to come” (Rv 1:8).

Adapt to the changing.
Cling to the Changeless.
