You’re More Significant than You Think

When it was time for Elizabeth to
have her baby, she gave birth to a son.
                         —Luke 1:57

Do you think most people are more capable and more important than you? Don’t see yourself as a five-star talent? Just ordinary? I appreciate your humility, but you underestimate your significance.

God uses the ordinary to do some remarkable things.

Without Elkanah and Hannah, there’s no Samuel.

Without Zechariah and Elizabeth, there’s no John the Baptist.

This is very personal to me, for only a few readers of these words have been acquainted with John and Jewell. But without John and Jewel, there would be no me.

And now, it becomes personal to you, too—for without a couple of people you can name, there would be no you.

But here you are, and there’s a role that won’t be filled unless you fill it. That makes you very significant.

Living usefully is better than living comfortably.
