They hid from the Lord God.
—Genesis 3:8
Kids love to play hide-and-seek. It’s a fun game.
But the first game of hide-and-seek was anything but fun. After their disobedience, Adam and Eve were terrified when they heard the sound of God walking in the garden. So, they hid from him.
“But the Lord God called to the man, ‘Where are you?’” (Gn 3:9).
We’re shrewd at hiding from people. We hold some thoughts secret, even from those who are closest to us. But trying to hide from God is a fool’s game.
Adam and Eve quickly learned the futility of it. And the quicker we learn it, the better off we’ll be.
Don’t play hide-and-seek with God. He isn’t seeking you to scare you but to awaken you, not to condemn you but to save you.
Where are you?
