Whatcha Got There?

Bring them here to me.
    —Matthew 14:18

The sun was setting. Stomachs were growling. And they were miles away from the markets. The disciples urged Jesus to dismiss the service and send the hungry crowd away. Jesus said, “Give them something to eat.”

What?! Go buy food for thousands?! They had neither time nor money enough to do that.

“How many loaves do you have?” Jesus asked. “Five—and two fish,” they said. “Bring them here to me,” he said.

And that’s what he says to you. Stop protesting that what you have is too small to make a difference.

“Whatcha got there?” he asks. No matter how limited your time, abilities, or funds, he says, “Bring them here to me.” He will take them in his hands (imagine that!), thank God for them (imagine that!), and distribute them (imagine that!).

Little is much in Christ’s hands.
