They took God at his word, believed his promises, and regulated their lives accordingly. Time and The Times had nothing to do with it. If their time ran out before a divine promise came to fruition—as it did in some cases—so be it; it would yet come true. Neither God’s promises nor their faith were regulated by clock or calendar.
