The End Is Just the Beginning

Jesus . . . has destroyed death and has
brought life and immortality to light.
                      —2 Timothy 1:10

Jesus doesn’t guarantee a trouble-free life. But he does promise that, however rough the road, you have “life in all its fullness” (Jn 10:10 NCV).

He makes all the difference in how you live—and how you die.

You’re spending down your days, running out of pages on your calendar.

You’re one day closer to the day of your death than you were yesterday. But because of Jesus, you are not among those “who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death” (Heb 2:15), for you are also one day closer to the day of your resurrection than you were yesterday.

As Dietrich Bonhoeffer was led to the gallows, he said, “For me, this is the beginning of life.”

Death is not the end. It’s the beginning—the birth of a new, perfect, unending life.

It is a blessing to die without pain;
a greater blessing to die without doubt.
