A man had two sons.
—Matthew 21:28
Dad said the same thing to both of his sons: “Go work in the vineyard.” The first said, “I won’t.” The second said, “I will.”
The difference between the two was the “afterward.”
The first son said, “I won’t go, but afterward changed his mind and went.” The second son said, “I will go,” but he didn’t. Each had an “afterward.” We’re not told how long this “afterward” lasted. But during the “afterward,” one son turned his “No” into “Yes,” while the other turned his “Yes” into “No.”
Are you knowingly doing the wrong thing? While you have an “afterward,” change and do the right thing. Conversely, have you determined to do the right thing, but in your “afterward,” continue to do the wrong thing?
God’s grace grants an “afterward” for repentance. If you’re in an “afterward” place, follow through, for you never know how long it will last. Don’t delay.
If you are in an “afterward” period
it’s time for a decision.
