Whoever has ears to hear,
let them hear.
—Mark 4:9
I love sea bass. I was in my barber’s chair many years ago when I was introduced to it. My barber and her husband had recently returned from their anniversary cruise, and she was telling me about their culinary experiences, both good and not-so-good. She said her favorite was Chilean Sea Bass. I’d never heard of it, but it immediately landed on my list of “not-so-good.”
That’s because I misunderstood her. What she said was, “Chilean Sea Bass.” What I thought she said was, “chili and sea bass.” Ugh! I’ll pass on that weird combo.
So much for my auditory deficiency, but the serious side is that some of us need to sharpen our listening skills. Technology has us looking more at a screen than at a face.
Are you a good listener?
Hearing is one thing.
Listening is quite another.
